For example, the electrification of vehicles is taking the front seat in the automotive industry today, and Fastech is producing semiconductor products that go into the heart of the powertrain. As these components operate in harsh environments and at high voltages, they need more robust packaging. While the current EV market needed components operating at 400 volts, it is now moving toward 800 volts. While, industrial applications is now moving from 1,200 volts to 1,800 volts and beyond. This means clients need customized packaging solutions.

꧒ However, due to the slow market adoption of new components, the over-all supply base has not fully developed and the EV industry is struggling to find a balance between the demand and supply of components.

Fastech has resolved this problem by manufacturing customized power semiconductors and other niche products for clients in Europe, America, and Asia. Maintaining state-ofthe- art manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, it meets the high demand for its services.

Its definition of quality extends to ensuring production lines are robust and reliable. In this pursuit, it has established the Strategic Secure Supply Sourcing, or 4S, so that at least three suppliers, preferably from different countries, are available for raw materials for on-time delivery and minimal disruption to shipments.

Developing Top Talent through Education Programs

Fastech is committed to developing a highly proficient technical workforce through education and has always been eager to make the most of its investments to shape the talent of the future. It has invested in various scholarship programs, industry-academe partnerships, and training.

Over the years, it has started numerous scholarship programs in partnership with multiple institutions, including the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, FAITH Colleges, and Batangas State University, a designated national engineering university of the Philippines.

🌃 The Center for Microelectronics Development was established as Fastech’s flagship talent development program in partnership with FAITH Colleges to create a multi-pronged platform to link academe and industry in electronics research and development activities.

ꦍ A commitment to training extends to employees as well. They are provided with a professional development opportunity to enhance their skills through an education subsidy program - the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). Various training programs exist for familiarizing employees with new industry standards and developing values through the KAIZEN methodology that focuses on the fundamentals of continuous improvement in the workplace.

Steadfast Commitment to Environment Sustainability

As climate change becomes a progressively critical problem, Fastech has undertaken strategic initiatives to ensure complete environmental sustainability in all its operations. It uses 100 percent renewable energy for its manufacturing operations, pivoting to clean energy sources to lower greenhouse gas emissions. This move is estimated to result in an annual reduction of approximately 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Green encapsulant compounds, which are made of halogen and antimony-free formulations, are used in products to improve the performance of the manufactured components. By replacing halogen,

ꦿwhich is highly reactive, the part’s reliability can be improved while addressing environmental and health hazards. Fastech also abides by the European Union Directive 2015/863 and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, which restricts the use of cadmium, lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium. It also ensures registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals compliance toward the goal of protecting the environment and human health and environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste.

Results that Speak Volumes

Fastech’s efforts have been instrumental in scripting numerous client success stories. In one instance, a client was looking to enable their gallium nitride technology with a drop-replaceable component to service their end-user clients’ that were building power system units. Working within this constraint, Fastech kept the product to standard JEDEC external dimensions, yet customizing the internal build and interconnections to deliver on the performance metric. Fastech partnered with the client from its start up phase through to securing a listing on the Nasdaq exchange.

On another occasion, it partnered with a client looking to derive the highest power from the smallest silicon carbide power semiconductor component. As their technology relied on a small semiconductor die, Fastech was able to develop a suitable, costeffective solution, including customized testing and packaging. This resulted in a huge number of part orders and unprecedented revenue growth for the client.

Driven by a strong focus on high-reliability and niche products, Fastech continues to innovate and look for areas and opportunities where its expertise and experience can help build future technologies. A significant effort of Fastech is now aimed at qualifying products to the AEC Q101 standard for automotive components. It also seeks to obtain ISO 14064 accreditation-an international standard for quantifying reporting greenhouse gas emissions. This would be an addition to its current environmental certification-the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
